MP3.com was closed in early December, 2003 by its new
owner, CNET. This resulted in the disappearance of a number of songs previously linked to here on Fingertips.
The web site that largely began the digital music revolution, MP3.com has been completely reconfigured by the technology news and
information site CNET, which bought the rights to the name "MP3.com" in
November 2003.
From the outset, CNET made it clear that the new MP3.com would not
include any of the songs that had previously been available there.
And so it has come to pass. In the spring of 2004, the resurrected MP3.com site at long last emerged, with the URL of music.download.com. You can read about it as a news story here; for more information about what the site is like as a place to download music, click here.
