Win the 25th anniversary Graceland CD/DVD package.

In case you haven’t heard, we have come upon the 25th anniversary of the release of Paul Simon’s landmark Graceland album. Truly a momentous musical work, it both revived his career as a mainstream artist and stirred up quite a bit of controversy. Check out Simon’s web site for background and an introductory video.

The prize offered here includes a CD of the original release, plus six bonus tracks. One of the bonus tracks is an aural account of the history of the album from Paul Simon himself. Also included in the prize is a DVD of the documentary Under African Skies, which utilizes the occasion of Simon’s return visit to Africa in 2011 to examine the making of the original album and the cultural minefield onto which he wandered, in pursuit of his art.

To enter the contest to win one or the other of these prizes, all you need to do is with “Contest” in the subject line. In the body of the email please include:

1) your favorite Paul Simon album, not counting Graceland (just curious); and
2) your first name and last name, because, as always if you’re going to win, I’m going to need to know. Anonymous people can’t win anything.

Please use an email address that you check regularly so if you win, you’ll be able to find out. I will always confirm your entry into the contest, so if you don’t get a confirmation within two days, please check your spam folder. If my emails end up in your spam folder, you’ll never find out when you win. (Trust me, it’s happened more than once.)

There will be one winner, selected at random from eligible entries. It’s been such a long time since there’s been a contest here that all previous winners are welcome to try again.

The deadline for entry is Monday June 25. The drawing will take place shortly thereafter; only the winner will be notified.
